Grier shares words on late Marchment

San Jose Sharks general manger Mike Grier honored Sharks scout Bryan Marchment with a touching speech at the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft.

Before announcing the Sharks draft pick, Grier took time out to pay tribute to his former teammate and longtime friend.
"His opponents may not have enjoyed playing against him, but as someone who was his teammate, I can tell you there was no one I would rather go into battle with, or who you would want on the bench than Bryan," Grier said.
Marchment
died suddenly Wednesday.
He was 53.
The former defenseman played 17 seasons in the NHL on nine teams. He retired in 2006 and joined the Sharks scouting department in 2007.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman held a moment of silence for Marchment at the start of the draft.

"We love you Bryan. You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten," Grier said closing out the tribute.
