EDMONTON, AB - For the second time this week following a 40-shot or more effort, the Oilers were shut out by a backup goalie.
Toronto's Curtis McElhinney shut the door in the Oilers 1-0 loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday, then Nashville Predators keeper Juuse Saros played lights-out with 46 stops Thursday, the most ever by a goalie in a shut out performance over Edmonton.
"We've kind of had that curse of the backup goalie playing well against us the past week or two but if we just get behind their D-men and use our big bodies to our advantage, we'll be fine," said defenceman Matt Benning, who has four goals and eight points in 29 games this season.
