After some much needed rest and relaxation during the Christmas Break, the Nashville Predators are back on the ice tonight at Bridgestone Arena to host the Dallas Stars. It's the second of five meetings between the two clubs this season; the Preds came back to complete a 5-4 overtime win on Nov. 10.
It was during that game in Dallas that Preds forward Viktor Arvidsson suffered a broken thumb. He has been out of the lineup since then, and defenseman P.K. Subban, as well as forwards Filip Forsberg and Colton Sissons have all joined Arvidsson on Injured Reserve. Subban and Arvidsson were with the team on their four-game road trip prior to the break with both players participating in all on-ice practice sessions.
At least one of those names could return for the Predators this week, and anyone would be a welcomed addition, as the team dropped all four games on the aforementioned trip, picking up just one of a possible eight points. However, prior to that excursion, Nashville swept a three-game homestand, and this evening presents a perfect opportunity to reset and get back in the win column with just three games remaining in the 2018 calendar year.

"It's good that we get the break here, get your mind out of this little rut we're in and enjoy some family and some time away from the game," Preds Associate Captain Ryan Ellis said after a Dec. 22 loss in Boston. "Hopefully, we come back hungrier and rested, maybe a bit healthier than we are now and go from there."
Update: The Preds have activated Subban and Arvidsson from IR. In addition, the team has placed defenseman Yannick Weber on IR.
