DETROIT -- American Thanksgiving is a special time where friends and family come together to share a meal and count their blessings from the past year.

With that in mind,
DetroitRedWings.com
recently asked head coach Derek Lalonde and several Red Wings players what they are thankful for this holiday season.
Here's what they said:
"Easy one. No. 1 through 10, all being my family. To be taken away from them was a different reality of this new job for a little bit. I can't wait for them to roll in." - Lalonde
"I'm thankful for my family and friends. Everyone says that, but it's a good answer." - Mark Pysyk
"This year especially, I'm really happy about our schedule because it just so happens that my parents are here for Thanksgiving. It will be cool having them in the United States for the first time for Thanksgiving. Overall, I'm really happy about my situation and where I am right now. I'm living my dream. I have unbelievable teammates around me. We are writing stories every single day and there's definitely more to come." - Moritz Seider
"I'm thankful for family, and the boys."- Robby Fabbri
"My family, for sure. My kids are the biggest thing for me. What we do for a living is a dream and everything, but it would never be the same for me to do it without them around supporting me. Every single time I come back home, it's truly a blessing to have them around." - David Perron
"My family and friends for staying healthy." - Gustav Lindstrom
"I'm thankful for (Red Wings assistant equipment manager) Brady (Munger) for always looking after me. He actually does…. But being serious, there's a lot of things to be thankful for. Obviously, to be here is No.1. Also, my parents and for all the sacrifices they made for me, as well as everyone who has helped me get to where I am. Again, just thankful to be around such great people every day and be a Detroit Red Wing."- Joe Veleno
"As usual, my family and friends. I'm very thankful for them. I'm thankful for my teammates and to have a great job, which I enjoy and love." - Michael Rasmussen
"My kids and my wife. Plus, everyone is healthy." - Adam Erne
"I'm blessed with what we do. We play hockey for a living, and everyone is healthy. That's all you can ask for." - Robert Hagg
"Just being healthy, my family being healthy and things getting back to normal." - Lucas Raymond
"I'm thankful for my health. And obviously, my family is everything. I'll be fortunate enough to spend the holidays with them this year." - Alex Nedeljkovic
"Just being healthy. A pretty boring answer." - Pius Suter
"Being able to spend time with friends and family." - Andrew Copp
"Everything. Like life, family, girlfriend, dogs and being here with my teammates." - Ville Husso
"I'm thankful for everybody who supports my dream, like my family. They've always been there. Plus, the teammates I play with every day. It's fun coming to the rink." - Jake Walman
