The Buffalo Sabres beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-4 in overtime, on Thursday at Scotiabank Arena.
Buffalo (4-3-1) overcame a two-goal, third-period deficit for the third time already this season, and then Owen Power scored his second OT winner to secure the extra point.
Jack Quinn starred for Buffalo with a Gordie Howe hat trick and then some: two goals, two assists and a fight. Four points matches a single-game career high for Quinn, who's up to eight points (4+4) this season.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen got the start in net and stopped 26 of 30 shots.
The Sabres were without Rasmus Dahlin (upper body) for a second straight game. He has a 50/50 chance to play Saturday in Montreal, coach Lindy Ruff said Thursday morning.
Dennis Gilbert, in on the third defense pair once again, launched the third-period comeback with his first goal as a Sabre (in 27 games) and his first for any team since Dec. 31, 2023.
Forward Josh Norris is "in protocol" after sustaining an injury in overtime, Ruff said. And forward Jiri Kulich missed the game after not feeling well during Thursday's morning skate; Kulich returned to Buffalo as a precaution, and tests came back negative, so he's considered day to day.
