Vincent Lecavalier was named the Canadiens' special advisor to hockey operations on March 17, 2022. A native of Île Bizard, Lecavalier played 17 seasons in the NHL with three different teams. In 1,212 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings, Lecavalier scored 421 goals and added 528 assists for 949 points.

Lecavalier, who retired in June 2016, finished his playing career as a member of the Kings in 2015-16, collecting 10 goals and seven assists in 42 games. He was acquired from the Flyers in a trade after registering 58 points in 133 games with Philadelphia, with whom he signed a five-year contract in the summer of 2013.

Lecavalier enjoyed his best moments in the NHL with the Lightning. Selected first overall by the Florida-based franchise in 1998, Lecavalier registered 874 points (third-highest total in franchise history) in 1,037 games (franchise record). He helped the Lightning win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with 16 points in 23 playoff appearances. Lecavalier had his most productive NHL season in 2006-07, setting personal highs in goals (52), assists (56) and points (108), and winning the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy. He was then awarded the King Clancy Trophy the following season. His No. 4 was retired by the Lightning in February 2018.

Before turning pro, Lecavalier played for the QMJHL's Rimouski Océanic from 1996 to 1998, amassing 217 points (86 goals, 131 assists) in 122 games. He was inducted into the QMJHL Hall of Fame in 2018.
