N. Murray Edwards

Mr. Edwards became a co-owner of the Calgary Flames in 1994 and is Chairman of Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation. He is Owner and Chairman of Edco Financial Holdings Ltd., a merchant banker since 1988, and is a leading investor in, and managing director and chairman of, numerous publicly traded companies including Canadian Natural Resources Limited, and Ensign Energy Services Inc. 

Mr. Edwards graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan with Great Distinction and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Toronto. After moving to Calgary in 1983, he became a lawyer and later a Partner with Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer, a Calgary-based law firm.

Alvin G. Libin

A native Calgarian with business interests in real estate, oil and gas and financial services, Mr. Libin became an owner of the Calgary Flames in 1994. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Balmon Investments Ltd., a private management services and investment company. He has a strong commitment to the City of Calgary and to the Province of Alberta and has provided leadership in a wide variety of volunteer positions.

In 2003, Mr. Libin and his wife Mona, through The Alvin and Mona Libin Foundation, established The Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta in partnership with the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services. Its mission is to provide world-class cardiovascular health care, education and research for southern Alberta. He also serves as a director on several corporate and community boards. Mr. Libin is an Officer of the Order of Canada and holds an Honorary Doctors of Laws degree from the University of Calgary. He was inducted into the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2004.

Allan Markin

A native Calgarian and longtime philanthropist, Mr. Markin also became an owner of the Calgary Flames hockey club in 1994. Mr. Markin co-founded Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) in 1989, together with Mr. Edwards. During his tenure as Chaiman of CNRL, he was instrumental in growing the company from a small operation of six employees with limited capital to the largest oil and gas producer in Canada.

Allan, a fervent advocate for improved health, relinquished his role as Chairman of Canadian Natural Resources Limited in 2012 to devote his efforts to the wellness initiative he established at Pure North. Pure North, an innovative wellness program, focuses on preventing chronic illnesses through personalized nutritional supplements, education, and lifestyle guidance. Having engaged over 46,000 participants, with an emphasis on vulnerable groups, Pure North collaborates with international experts, sharing data with esteemed institutions like the University of Calgary, University of Alberta, Harvard School of Public Health, and others, to educate on optimized nutrition. Additionally, Allan's support extends to initiatives like the APPLE Schools program, promoting healthy habits among students and earning him accolades such as honorary degrees and awards. Central to his philanthropy is elevating education in health and wellness.

Jeffrey J. McCaig

Mr. Jeff McCaig is the Chairman of Trimac Transportation Group, a prominent provider of bulk trucking services in North America, offering complementary logistics solutions. He succeeded his father, Bud McCaig, who gained ownership of the Calgary Flames in 1994. Jeff's involvement with Trimac dates back to August 1983, when he joined the company. He rose to become its President in 1990 and served as its CEO from 1994 to 2015. Prior to joining Trimac, Jeff practiced law in Calgary, focusing on corporate financing and securities, and remains a member of the Law Society of Alberta. He holds an Economics degree from Harvard, a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University. Currently residing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Jeff is married with three grown children.

In addition to his role at Trimac, Jeff serves on the boards of MEG Energy, Grayhawk Investment Strategies Inc., and Bantrel Company, an engineering and construction firm. He also holds a directorship and co-ownership of the Calgary Flames Hockey Club, and chairs the Flames Foundation For Life. His extensive background in both business and law, along with his commitment to various organizations, underscores his dedication to fostering excellence in diverse fields.
