MONTREAL – A day after being inducted into hockey history, Pierre Turgeon will be honored once more on home ice.
Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023 on June 21, Turgeon will officially join the pantheon during a ceremony in Toronto on Nov. 13. Then on Nov. 14, he’ll take his place among Canadiens legends on the team’s Ring of Honor during an unveiling at the Bell Centre.

The former first-overall NHL Draft pick was acquired by the Habs via trade on April 5, 1995, and played 104 games with the club over three seasons, plus six in the playoffs. Turgeon was named the 25th captain in Canadiens history in December 1995, and became the final player to wear the “C” for Montreal at the old Forum ahead of the move to the Bell Centre (then Molson Centre). In his one full season with the team, Turgeon nearly registered a 100-point campaign, tallying 38 goals and 58 assists for 96 points in 80 games.
Through his 19 NHL seasons with Buffalo, New York (Islanders), Montreal, St. Louis, Dallas, and Colorado, the Rouyn-Noranda, QC native played 1,294 career games, totaling 515 goals and 812 assists for 1,327 points. In 109 playoff games, he added another 35 goals and 62 assists for 97 points.
Guy Carbonneau was the last player to be added to the team’s Ring of Honor during a ceremony following his own induction to the Hall of Fame on Nov. 20, 2019.
