MONTREAL -- Guy Lafleur's national funeral will be held at Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral Basilica on Tuesday, May 3.

Here's an overview of the process and useful information:
The funeral will be presided over by His Excellency, The Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal.
He will be accompanied by His Eminence, Cardinal Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec and Primate of Canada.
Funeral procession
A funeral procession will leave the Bell Centre at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of De La Montagne Street and Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal. It will then follow Peel Street to the north before heading to René-Lévesque Boulevard to welcome the deceased at the door of the Cathedral Basilica of Marie-Reine-du-Monde and the entrance procession.
The procession will be escorted by representatives of the SPVM, including the cavalry of the police service.
The celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Information for the general public
There will be designated spaces for the public outside the Cathedral. In addition, giant screens will be installed on both sides of the Cathedral to allow people to follow the celebration live.
The route of the procession, as well as all the ceremonies will be broadcast live on the major television networks.
Guests gathered inside the Basilica, as well as journalists and the public outside the Cathedral grounds, can follow the procession on screens.
Areas closed to traffic
Please note that the following streets will be closed beginning 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning:
- Peel Street will be closed from St-Antoine to the north.
- René-Lévesque Boulevard will be closed between Lucien-L'Allier Street and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard.
- Avenue-des-Canadiens will be closed completely.
These measures will be lifted after 2:00 p.m., once the ceremonies are completed.
