The Must List: Johnathan Kovacevic

MONTREAL - From Malibu to the Grand Canyon and everywhere in between, May was a busy month for Johnathan Kovacevic.

To kick off his offseason, the blue-liner dialed up a near one-month road trip through California and Arizona by van, visiting some of the most picturesque sites the Unites States has to offer.

Recently, the canadiens.com crew caught up with the first-year Hab to learn more about his van life necessities.

ONE ARTIST PEOPLE MUST LISTEN TO ON THE ROAD

My go-to artist is Caamp, just because we went to watch one of their concerts and it fit the vibe really well. They're a good band.

ONE NATIONAL PARK TRAVELLERS MUST VISIT

Yosemite in the States. I mean, it's different in Canada. I've been to Banff and that was obviously beautiful but for my road trip, I'd say Yosemite.

ONE NIGHTTIME ACTIVITY PEOPLE MUST DO WHILE ROAD TRIPPING

You got to have a campfire, preferably with S'mores or roasted marshmallows. We had campfires a lot of the nights and that was pretty fun.

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FIRST-TIME VAN TRAVELLERS MUST KEEP IN MIND

Have fun! It's not as hard as you think. I camped five nights in my life before this, then went for a month and had a blast. So, just do it… My go-to advice would be keeping an eye on your fuel gage, because one time we ran out of gas and that was a bit of a problem. We got stuck right outside a gas station, so it wasn't too bad. I don't know if the music was too loud or what happened, but the gas light went on and I'm like, "Alright, I'll pull over at the next gas station." But when I pulled off the highway to get to the gas station, the car died. It was an older vehicle; it was an older van, so it just died. I had to run into the store. I got a jerry can, filled it and put it in the car. So, my go-to advice would be keeping an eye on the fuel gauge.

ONE MEAL PEOPLE MUST HAVE WHILE TRAVELLING BY VAN

It sounds boring, but rice, chicken and one of those packaged salads - like, a salad kit - just because it was easy, and it was there.

ONE WATER SOURCE PEOPLE MUST USE

We would fill up gallon jugs. Most campgrounds would have them, so just gallon jugs.
