EDMONTON, AB - An Oilers icon enshrined where he belongs.
Ahead of his number 4 jersey being raised to the rafters of Rogers Place, Kevin Lowe took his rightful spot alongside Glen Sather, Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, Grant Fuhr, Paul Coffey, Mark Messier, and Glenn Anderson as an honoured member on the Hockey Hall of Fame Legends wall during a plaque unveiling ceremony Friday afternoon.
The honour is reserved for the few who've been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as members of the organization, with Lowe poised to be inducted as part of the Class of 2020 on Nov. 15 in Toronto.
"Kevin Lowe, we often used to refer to him as the face of the franchise when it comes to the Oilers, but it's much more than that," Tim Spelliscy, Program Host & Oilers Media Wall of Honour Inductee said. "He's the heart and soul, he's the passion, and he's the fire."
Lowe, a seven-time NHL All-Star and six-time Stanley Cup champion, was flanked by family members and Oilers alumni when the curtain dropped to unveil his detailed sketching on translucent glass that will live within the Oilers Hall of Fame Room.
