DETROIT -The Detroit Red Wings today released their 2023 NHL Prospect Tournament roster and a complete tournament schedule for the event, held from Thursday, Sept. 14 to Sunday, Sept. 17 at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Mich. The team consists of 24 recent draft picks, free agent signees and tryouts who will battle against prospect teams from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs.

First-round trio of Cossa, Kasper and Danielson headline 24-man roster for four-team tournament
The Red Wings roster is highlighted by first-round picks from each of the last three NHL Entry Drafts: goaltender Sebastian Cossa (15th overall, 2021), center Marco Kasper (8th overall, 2022) and center Nate Danielson (9th overall, 2023). Cossa spent the majority of his first professional season with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, posting a 26-16-4 record with a 2.56 goals-against average, a 0.913 save percentage and four shutouts in 46 appearances. He also owned a 5-2 record with a 2.32 goals-against average and a 0.917 save percentage in seven postseason starts, helping the Walleye reach the Western Conference Finals. Kasper began the 2022-23 campaign with Rögle BK in the Swedish Hockey League, recording 23 points (8-15-23), a plus-seven rating and 72 penalty minutes in 52 games, in addition to three assists in nine playoff contests. Kasper made his Red Wings debut on April 2 at Toronto, finishing with one shot and three hits in 14:59 time on ice. Danielson spent the entire 2022-23 season with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings and ranked among the team leaders with 33 goals (1st), 45 assists (1st), 78 points (1st), 38 penalty minutes (T10th), 13 power play goals (1st), 38 power play points (1st), three shorthanded goals (1st), five game-winning goals (T1st) and 244 shots (2nd) in 68 games. In all, Danielson has compiled 150 points (59-91-150), a plus-seven rating and 80 penalty minutes in 145 WHL games with Brandon since 2020-21.
Other roster notables include left wing Elmer Soderblom (159th overall, 2019), a 6-foot-8, 246-pound forward who tallied eight points (5-3-8) in 21 games with the Red Wings to begin the 2022-23 season and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in his NHL debut on Oct. 14, 2022 vs. Montreal; defenseman William Wallinder (32nd overall, 2020), who logged 26 points (7-19-26) in 50 games with Rögle BK and chipped in three points (1-2-3) in nine postseason contests before making his North American professional debut with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins; left wing Carter Mazur (70th overall, 2021), who registered 37 points (22-15-37) in 40 games at the University of Denver before adding six points (3-3-6) in six games with the Griffins; and center Amadeus Lombardi (113th overall, 2022), who racked up 102 points (45-57-102) in 67 games with the Ontario Hockey League's Flint Firebirds and notched seven points (2-5-7) in seven postseason contests before dishing out one assist in two appearances with Grand Rapids.
Thirteen of the 24 players on the roster are former Red Wings draft picks, with the trio of first-round picks in addition to four second-round picks, one third-round selection, two fourth-round picks, one fifth-round choice, one six-round pick and a seventh-round pick. The drafted prospects range in age from three 18-year olds chosen at the most recent 2023 NHL Entry Draft (Danielson, second-rounder Andrew Gibson and seventh-rounder Emmitt Finnie) to a pair of 22-year-olds (Soderblom and Antti Tuomisto, a 2019 second-round pick who is set to make his tournament debut after recording 20 points (5-15-20) in 60 regular-season games and collecting two assists in three postseason contests with TPS in Finland's top professional league last season).
Over the tournament's history, 756 players have moved on to play in at least one NHL game, including 20 who played for the Red Wings in 2022-23: Jonatan Berggren, Tyler Bertuzzi, Ben Chiarot (Atlanta), Alex Chiasson (Dallas), Simon Edvinsson, Robby Fabbri (St. Louis), Taro Hirose, Filip Hronek, Ville Husso (St. Louis), Dylan Larkin, Gustav Lindstrom, Alex Nedeljkovic (Carolina), Michael Rasmussen, Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Givani Smith, Elmer Soderblom, Joe Veleno, Jake Walman (St. Louis) and Filip Zadina.
