Eric Veilleux Rookie Camp 091616

The Colorado Avalanche unveiled Friday its 28-player roster that will take part in next month's rookie camp and compete at the San Jose Sharks' Prospect Showcase.
Colorado's roster is made up of rookies, prospects and camp invitees, which includes 16 players that the team has drafted over the past five seasons. Avalanche 2017 draft picks Conor Timmins (No. 32 overall) and Petr Kvaca (No. 114 overall) will be at the team for the tournament. Other members of this past summer's draft class were unable to attend due to NCAA eligibility, injuries or prior commitments in Europe.

The rookie team has six players that have NHL experience and another five that played minor-league hockey in North America last season. J.T. Compher, A.J. Greer, Tyson Jost, Anton Lindholm and Spencer Martin all made their NHL debuts last year with Colorado, while Chris Bigras played 31 games with the Avalanche in 2015-16. Bigras was limited to only 45 contests with the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage last year due to injury.
Defenseman Andrei Mironov, who has competed in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia for Dynamo Moscow the past five years, will also travel to San Jose with the Avs rookies. Shawn St-Amant, Sergei Boikov and Julien Nantel, all of whom helped the Colorado Eagles win the ECHL Kelly Cup last season, will also dress for the Avalanche at the tournament.
Additionally, the Avs will have forwards Alexander Kerfoot and Dominic Toninato on the squad after both forwards recently signed with the team as college free agents.
Avalanche rookie camp is set to begin with a practice at Family Sports Center in Centennial, Colorado, on Sept. 8 before the group heads to the Bay Area for the tournament. Avs prospects will play their peers at the Prospect Showcase, squaring off against the San Jose Sharks on Sept. 9, Arizona Coyotes on Sept. 11 and Anaheim Ducks on Sept. 12.
Colorado begins its two-day NHL training camp on Sept. 15 at the club's practice facility.
