Avalanche Releases 2020-21 Training Camp Details

The Colorado Avalanche announced its 40-player roster for the team's 2020-21 training camp on Thursday, and the lineup consists of 22 forwards, 14 defensemen and four goaltenders.
Camp begins with medical and physical testing on Sunday before on-ice sessions commence on Monday. Due to local COVID-19 restrictions, all practices are closed to the public.

The Avs are currently planning on skating at their practice facility, South Suburban Family Sports Center, on Jan. 4-6 and Jan. 8-10 with three scrimmages scheduled throughout camp on Jan. 6 and Jan. 9-10. The club is set to practice at Ball Arena on Jan. 12.
There will be seven skaters new to the Avalanche organization at camp, including forwards Brandon Saad, Miikka Salomaki, Kiefer Sherwood and Mike Vecchione and defensemen Kyle Burroughs, Dennis Gilbert and Devon Toews. Keaton Middleton and Peter Tischke, who signed American Hockey League contracts with the Colorado Eagles, will also attend camp.
Bowen Byram, selected fourth overall by Colorado at the 2019 NHL Draft, is also on the roster and will join the team at the conclusion of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. The defenseman is a co-captain for Team Canada at the under-20 tournament that is being held in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Avs have four goaltenders on its camp roster: Philipp Grubauer and Pavel Francouz and prospects Hunter Miska and Adam Werner.
The Avalanche will open the 56-game season with a two-game set against the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 13 and 15 at Ball Arena. Game time for opening night is set for 8:30 p.m. MT and the matchup will be broadcasted on NBCSN.
