Colorado's camp roster includes 19 forwards, 12 defensemen and four goaltenders. In addition to the players that were with the Avalanche for the majority of the 2019-20 season, some players that spent the campaign with the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles will also be participating in the camp. Those players are forwards Shane Bowers, Logan O'Connor, Sheldon Dries and T.J. Tynan, defensemen Kevin Connauton, Anton Lindholm, Jacob MacDonald and Conor Timmins and goaltender Adam Werner. Furthermore, Colorado's first round selection (No. 4 overall) in the 2019 NHL Draft, defenseman Bowen Byram, has also been added to the roster.
As part of the agreement between the National Hockey League Players' Association and National Hockey League, the club will travel to the hub city of Edmonton, Alberta, on July 26 and the qualifying round will start on Aug. 1. Colorado can travel with a maximum of 31 players to Edmonton when competition resumes for Phase 4. The Avalanche will play its first Stanley Cup Qualifier game against the division-rival St. Louis Blues on Aug. 2 at Rogers Place.
The Avs will also play the Dallas Stars on Aug. 5 and Vegas Golden Knights on Aug. 8 in the round-robin part of the qualifier to determine the top four seeds in the Western Conference for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Prior to the Stanley Cup Qualifier, exhibition games will be played from July 28-30 in the hub cities--Edmonton and Toronto, Ontario. A full schedule with times and broadcast information will be announced in the coming days, but games will be held at 12 p.m. MT, 4:30 p.m. MT or 8:30 p.m. MT in Edmonton (puck drops might fluctuate up to 30 minutes during qualifying round).
The Avs will open Phase 3, training camp-style team practices, on Monday at Pepsi Center. The sessions are closed to the general public. Below is the Avalanche's training camp roster.
