The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired forward Brandon Duhaime from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Colorado’s third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Duhaime, 26, appeared in 62 games with Minnesota in 2023-24 and registered eight points (4g/4a) and 66 penalty minutes. The forward ranks second on the club in penalty minutes and hits (155). He is one of five skaters to suit up in all 62 games for the Wild this season.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward has accumulated 35 points (19g/16a) and 230 penalty minutes in 193 career regular-season games with the Wild from 2021-24. He set personal bests in assists (11) and points (17) as a rookie in 2021-22 as well as 122 penalty minutes to rank fourth in the NHL. Duhaime has also skated in 12 career Stanley Cup Playoffs contests, appearing in every game for the Wild over their last two postseason runs.
Duhaime began his professional career with the AHL’s Iowa Wild from 2019-21 where he registered 29 points (12g/17a) and 103 penalty minutes in 87 games.
Born in Coral Springs, Florida, Duhaime played three seasons of college hockey at Providence University from 2016-19. He recorded 72 points (22g/50a) in 117 games for the Friars, including 34 points (11g/23a) in 42 games as a junior in 2018-19 en route to being named to the Hockey East Third All-Star Team.
Prior to enrolling at Providence, Duhaime spent the 2015-16 season with the USHL’s Chicago Steel and Tri-City Storm, helping the Storm capture the 2016 Clark Cup as league champions.
He was selected by Minnesota in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
