Galchenyuk, 28, attended Avalanche training camp and signed a PTO with the Colorado Eagles on Nov. 9, recording seven points (3g/4a) and a +4 rating in seven games with the AHL club. Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (third overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Galchenyuk has produced 354 points (146g/208a) in 643 career NHL games with the Canadiens, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Ottawa and Toronto. He has added 17 points (5g/12a) in 38 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with the Canadiens, Wild and Maple Leafs.
In his first NHL season in 2012-13, Galchenyuk finished tied for second among league rookies in assists (18) and tied for fifth in points (27). The 6-foot-1, 194-pound center set career highs in points (56) and goals (30) during the 2015-16 campaign with Montreal. Most recently, Galchenyuk spent the 2021-22 season with the Arizona Coyotes, tallying 21 points (6g/15a) in 60 contests.
Galchenyuk has played in 13 total AHL contests with the Eagles and Toronto Marlies, recording 15 points (5g/10a). Prior to turning pro, he played for the Ontario Hockey League's Sarnia Sting from 2010-13, recording 144 points (58g/86a) in 103 career regular-season games and four points (2g/2a) in six postseason contests.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisc., Galchenyuk grew up in Russia but has represented the United States in international competition. He suited up for Team USA at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording eight points (2g/6a) in seven games to help the U.S. capture the gold medal. He also represented his country at the IIHF World Championship that same year, notching two points (2g/0a) to help Team USA earn bronze. Galchenyuk also suited up for the U.S. at the 2022 IIHF World Championship and notched five points (1g/4a) in 10 tournament games.
