Avalanche Clinches Spot in 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Colorado Avalanche has secured its spot in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs after defeating the St. Louis Blues 4-2 on Thursday night.
This is the fourth straight season that the Avalanche has reached the NHL postseason, the team's most consecutive trips since making 11 straight playoffs from 1994-95 to 2005-06. It is the third longest run in franchise history (Quebec Nordiques had seven in a row from 1981-1987).

Colorado is the second NHL club to qualify for the 2021 postseason after the Vegas Golden Knights did so on Wednesday. The Knights have played two more games than the Avalanche, which entered the game needing to win in regulation to clinch a playoff spot.
The Avs have a 31-9-4 record after 44 games played and their 66 points rank second behind Vegas (68 points) in the West Division and third in the entire league standings (Carolina, 67 points). Colorado has 12 games remaining in the regular season.
Ticketing information for playoff home games will be released early next month. Season Ticket Members will be receiving information first on how to secure seats for the postseason.
The Avalanche clinched its playoff spot on Thursday by winning its fifth game in a row and fourth straight against the Blues this season. Andre Burakovsky scored twice and Brandon Saad and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also tallied, while goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 25 saves in the 4-2 win in St. Louis.
