The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed forward Ben Meyers to a one-year contract for the 2023-24 season.

A native of Delano, Minnesota, Meyers signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Avalanche on April 13, 2022 after completing his junior year at the University of Minnesota. He recorded 41 points (17g/24a) in 34 games during that junior season and was named a Hobey Baker Award Hat Trick finalist. The Gophers' co-captain was also named Big Ten Player of the Year and was a Second Team All-America selection and unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection. He paced the Gophers with 17 goals and 41 points in helping Minnesota win the 2021-22 Big Ten Regular Season Championship and advance to the NCAA Frozen Four for the first time since 2014.

Meyers scored a goal in his NHL debut on April 16, 2022 against the Carolina Hurricanes at Ball Arena. He became the eighth player in Avalanche history to score a goal in his first NHL game and the first since Cale Makar during the 2019 playoffs. Meyers appeared in five regular-season contests with the Avs that spring (1g/0a).

The 5-foot-11, 194-pound center represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, recording four points (2g/2a) in four contests to finish second among U.S. scorers. He also suited up for his country at the 2022 IIHF World Championship, sharing the team lead with eight points (4g/4a) in 10 outings.

Meyers totaled 95 points (39g/56a) in 102 career NCAA contests at the University of Minnesota. He served as an alternate captain his sophomore season in 2020-21 and as a freshman in 2019-20 was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Prior to his collegiate career, Meyers played two seasons with the Fargo Force in the United States Hockey League from 2017-19, where he produced 110 points (58g/52a) in 124 career regular season contests. He added eight points (5g/3a) in 19 total USHL postseason contests and helped Fargo capture the team's first USHL Clark Cup as league champions in 2018.
