The Colorado Avalanche start a three-game home stand with a 7-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
The Avalanche opened the contest with three goals in the first period from J.T. Compher, Andre Burakovsky and Darren Helm.

The Red Wings end the first period and start the second period with goals, but the Avalanche quickly respond with three more. The Red Wings then bookended the second period with another goal.
The contest wrapped up with an empty net goal from Cale Makar.

7:10 COL (0-2) - Alex Newhook passed the puck to Andre Burakovsky who took a wrist shot from the right circle to get the puck home.
10:49 COL (0-3) - With a quick pass in the neutral zone from Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Darren Helm took the puck on a breakaway to get the goal.
19:07 DET (1-3) - Pius Suter took the puck down the ice in a 2-on-1 rush for a cross-ice pass in front of the net to Vladislav Namestnikov. Namestnikov shot the puck blocker side to find the back of the net.
2nd Period
3:21 DET (2-3) - Joe Veleno brought the puck into the zone for a quick backhanded goal.
3:59 COL (2-4) - Nathan MacKinnon from Gabriel Landeskog for a slap shot from the left side to get the puck to the back of the net.
4:22 COL (2-5) - Immediately from the face off in front of the Red Wings net, as he fell Mikko Rantanen passed to Andre Burakovsky who dangled the puck in front of Alex Nedeljkovic to take a shot and land it.
7:33 COL (2-6) - Samuel Girard brought the puck from the right side to in front of the net to land a shot from the slot.
13:34 DET (3-6) - PPG Filip Hronek took a slap shot from the point on the left side to sneak the puck into the net.
3rd Period
15:30 COL (3-7) - ENG Cale Makar secured an empty net goal with a shot from the opposite zone.

Bowen Byram remains day-to-day with an upper body injury. Nazem Kadri is slated as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, unrelated to the lower-body injury he sustained earlier this season.
