Avs Travel to Dallas to Face Stars in Preseason

The Colorado Avalanche travels to Dallas to play its first of two preseason games against the Stars at American Airlines Center at 6 p.m. MT.
The Avs dropped their last exhibition contest 7-4 at home against the Vegas Golden Knights. Andre Burakovsky and Mikko Rantanen each scored twice in the outing.
Thursday's matchup is the fifth preseason game of the year for Colorado. The squad will face the Stars once more at home on Saturday to conclude the preseason.

COLORADO-DALLAS CONNECTIONS

Valeri Nichushkin was selected 10th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars and played four seasons with the franchise before signing with the Avs in 2019… Avalanche forward Logan O'Connor was born in Missouri City, Texas... The last time Colorado faced the Stars in the preseason was in 2019 and the Avs went 0-1-1 in those games. In the regular season, the Avalanche franchise owns a 69-53-23 record against the Stars franchise.

ROSTER REPORT

Coach Bednar detailed after Tuesday's game that the Avs will be starting a lineup mixed of rookies and veterans for Thursday's preseason contest against Dallas.

INJURY UPDATE

Goaltender Pavel Francouz left Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury and his timeline is unknown. Head coach Jared Bednar said on Tuesday that defenseman Cale Makar, who has been in a red, non-contact jersey since the start of training camp, could play in one or both of the exhibition outings against Dallas. Blueliner Devon Toews (upper body) is expected to miss the beginning of the campaign while recovery from surgery.
