Ryder Rolston Waterloo Black Hawks

The Colorado Avalanche chose forward Ryder Rolston with the No. 139 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft on Wednesday.
Rolston, 18, spent the 2019-20 season with the Waterloo Black Hawks and recorded 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 42 contests, his first campaign in the United States Hockey League. He registered 158 shots on net in the campaign, the most on the Black Hawks and third-most in the league.

Prior to joining Waterloo, the Boston, Massachusetts, native spent two years with the U.S. National Team Development Program on the junior teams, registering 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists) in 54 outings with the under-18 team in 2018-19.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound right wing was rated as the 102nd-ranked North American skater on NHL Central Scouting's final list of the top draft-eligible prospects and is attending the University of Notre Dame this season. His father, Brian, played for the Avalanche during the 1999-00 season.
The Avs acquired the selection from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Day 2 of the draft in exchange for Colorado's fifth (No. 149) and seventh-round (No. 211) picks in 2020.
