ColoradoAvalanche.com talked with Henry about growing up playing the game, the draft and some of his favorite things.
How old were you when you first started skating?
"I started when I was around 5 years old."
Who got you into skating?
"My dad and my mom. My dad really pushed me to start skating, and it just took off from there."
Who was your biggest idol?
"My biggest idol was probably Sidney Crosby. He has kind of been my favorite player, and I look up to him."
What is your favorite hockey memory?
"That would be two years ago when I was playing in my hometown for the Portage Terriers, and we won the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. It was so special playing in front of my family and friends."
*Fun Fact: During that playoff run, Henry registered 14 points (eight goals and six assists) in 12 games.
What were your thoughts after the scouting combine and going into the draft? Did you have any gut feelings of who might take you?
"No, not really. I knew my meetings went well after the combine and I thought maybe there was a chance one of the teams might pick me, but I was unsure on who."
What was your favorite question the Avalanche asked you at the combine?
"I don't know. I think my favorite question I asked them was if they were going to give us Tyson Jost (whose WHL rights are owned by the Regina Pats) next year because we are hosting the Memorial Cup. They said they would get back to me."
What was the most interesting thing about the combine?
"I think just meeting all these guys you saw on TV as a little kid, like meeting Joe Sakic and Trevor Lindon. Those are two pretty famous guys, and it was really exciting."
What is your favorite pregame meal?
"Chicken and pasta with red sauce."
What is your favorite movie?
"Talladega Nights."
Do you have any pregame routines or superstitions?
"I wouldn't call them superstitions, I would call them routines. I just get dressed left to right. I always tape my stick first thing and I always have a blue Gatorade."
What is your favorite beverage?
"Coke."
Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to?
"Kelowna, British Columbia. It's a really nice place and was really cool for me."
