Mikko Rantanen Road Warmups Pregame White Jersey Toronto Maple Leafs 14 January 2019

Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, head coach Jared Bednar said following the team's 4-2 victory on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Rantanen did not play in Saturday's contest against the Blackhawks and also won't dress in the rematch on Sunday in Chicago. Saturday's outing was the first game he's missed this season.

The 22-year-old was hurt late in the third period of Colorado's previous outing on Thursday at the Dallas Stars after he was checked into the boards along the team benches. He went to the locker room to be evaluated and didn't return to game action.
Bednar didn't have an update on Rantanen's status following Friday's practice but said the Nousiainen, Finland, native was still being evaluated.
"He is day-to-day or a couple days anyway," Bednar said of Rantanen after the game on Saturday. "We are just going to keep reevaluating him every day and see when he is ready to go. When he feels better and feels good enough to go then he will get back in. I don't know exactly what timeline that is going to be."
Since joining the Avalanche's roster full-time on Oct. 28, 2016, Rantanen has appeared in 230 of a possible 234 NHL contests. The right wing leads the team with 56 assists and 16 power-play goals in 74 games this season, and he is second on the Avs in scoring with 87 points and third in goals with 31. He has set new career highs for each scoring category this year.
The Avalanche has seven games remaining in the regular season. Sunday's game in Chicago begins at 6 p.m. MT.
