Alex Beaucage was selected by the Colorado Avalanche at No. 78 overall in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver, British Columbia. A 6-foot-1, 193-pound forward, he was the fifth selection the Avalanche made at the annual event.
Beaucauge has spent the last two seasons playing with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season, the right wing recorded 79 points (39 goals and 40 assists) in 68 regular-season games before producing 16 points (five goals and 11 assists) in 16 postseason contests to help the Huskies win the QMJHL title. Beaucage also registered two points (goal and assist) in five outings as Rouyn-Noranda won its first-ever Canadian Hockey League title at the Memorial Cup.
