Josh Anderson Development Camp 2018 Prospect

Josh Anderson was selected 71st overall in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound defenseman has played the past five seasons in the Western Hockey League, totaling 35 points (nine goals, 26 assists) in 206 career games with the Prince George Cougars and Swift Current Broncos.
This past season, Anderson played in 54 games, recording seven points (one goal, six assists) in 25 outings with the Cougars before being traded to the Broncos, where he registered seven points (two goals, five assists) and a plus-8 rating in 29 games. He added two assists in 26 postseason contests as he helped Swift Current win the WHL Championship.

The Nanaimo, British Columbia, native signed a three-year, entry level contract with the Avs on March 29 and is preparing for his first full pro campaign this upcoming year.
He recently talked with the ColoradoAvalanche.com about his game-day routine and getting ready for the upcoming season.
How did it feel to win the WHL Championship last season?
"It was unbelievable. There are not a whole lot of words to describe it. It's still surreal now. Looking back at it now, it's amazing moment."

How did you get started playing hockey?
"I think just participating in public skates when I was young."
When did you realize hockey was the sport for you?
"When I was very young. Just always playing hockey growing up, I guess I just fell in love with it."
What are your goals for this upcoming season?
"Definitely to play pro hockey, that's my first goal. But to come in to training camp in good shape and just play my game--let my on-ice take care of itself."
What are you looking forward to the most about next season?
"Just a new change of scenery. I've lived in Canada my whole life and coming down here to play hockey is going to be a bit different and fun."
How have you liked your time in Colorado so far?
"I love it. Denver is a great city and it is like home with all the mountains nearby."
What is your pregame routine like?
"I go to the rink and roll out, stretch and then go home, eat and nap for a couple of hours. Then I go back to the rink and grab a coffee."
What is your favorite hockey memory?
"I would have to say winning the Western Hockey League Championship this spring."

Who has had the biggest influence on you and why?
"I would say Travis Barron, but I have to say my parents for sure."
What is your biggest fear?
"Probably snakes and spiders."
