RECAP

The Colorado Avalanche beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in a shootout thriller on Saturday night at Rogers Place. With the win, Colorado notched its sixth-straight win and extended its point streak to eight games (7-0-1).
Nathan MacKinnon scored the shootout winner as well as the Avs' sole regulation strike. After over 40 minutes of scoreless action, Edmonton drew the first strike but MacKinnon evened the score 1-1 late in the third period to send the game into overtime and then a shootout.
Darcy Kuemper made 49 saves on 50 shots in the shootout victory.

5:24 - EDM 1, COL 0 - Edmonton finally provided the game's icebreaker as Warren Foegele redirected Darnell Nurse's wrist shot from distance past Darcy Kuemper to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead.
14:53 - COL 1, EDM 1 - Nathan MacKinnon swooped in and controlled a bobbling puck and lifted his backhanded shot over Mikko Koskinen to tie the score 1-1. Valeri Nichushkin and Devon Toews picked up the assists.

Kuemper made his 50th start of the season and improved his record to 34-9-3 and has won his last four starts… MacKinnon recorded his 26th goal of the season and now has four goals in his last three games… Burakovsky's point streak ended at four games where he totaled six points (2G, 4A) in that span… Girard rejoined the lineup in place of Erik Johnson and logged 18:31 minutes… The win marked Colorado's 52nd of the season which is tied for a franchise record.
