Sometime in the middle of the second overtime of Game 5 of the 2013 Western Conference Final, Patrick Kane leaned over to Jonathan Toews on the bench and had a conversation with his Blackhawks teammate.

Kane wanted to strategize after the Kings had scored the equalizing goal with 10 seconds remaining in regulation and then matched the Blackhawks stride-for-stride through a scintillating first overtime and into a second at a tension-filled United Center.

"'Tazer' actually set me up a couple of times in the first overtime and I didn't score on my chances," Kane said. "And then we had a delayed 2-on-1 and he shot the first one and then we went back to the bench and I said, 'Hey, if we get another 2-on-1 I'll stay a little bit behind and you might be able to make a pass for a one-timer.' "
Seconds later, magic happened thanks to a heads-up play by Bryan Bickell and the two cornerstones of the franchise, Kane and Toews.
"Sure enough, the next shift 'Bicks' made a nice play on the wall to chip it out for a 2-on-1 (against Kings defenseman Rob Scuderi) and we kind of did what we said: (Toews) put it right in my wheelhouse and I banged in a one-timer," Kane said.

The blast from the right circle beat a sprawling Jonathan Quick, who had matched Corey Crawford with one highlight-reel save after another throughout the overtimes, and sent the Blackhawks to their second Stanley Cup Final in three seasons with a 4-3 victory in front of 22,237 delirious fans.
As hats rained down from the stands following Kane's third score of the game, the winger slid across the ice on his knees and delivered perhaps his most iconic goal celebration - "The Heartbreaker" during which Kane drew a heart with his gloves and then punched through the middle of it - before being mobbed by teammates, led by Andrew Shaw.
"I did 'The Heartbreaker' and had 'Shawzie' on my back - I don't know how he got on the ice that fast," Kane said. "That's probably one of my favorite goals of my career, to be honest with you. Just the way it all broke down with the hat trick sending us to the Stanley Cup Final and just the whole celebration after too."
