As the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin to wrap up, the Blackhawks now know they can receive their additional pick at no worse than 20th overall.

Chicago acquired Tampa Bay's 2023 first-round pick, along with a conditional 2024 first-round pick, Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk in exchange for forward Brandon Hagel during the 2021-22 season. The Lightning were eliminated in the first round on Saturday night against the Maple Leafs, placing their natural first-round selection for the time being at No. 20 overall. However, if the Florida Panthers advance to the Eastern Conference Final, the Blackhawks added pick would improve from 20th overall to 19th overall.

Finishing the season third-worst in the league standings, the Blackhawks will learn the fate of their natural first-round pick in next week's NHL Draft Lottery. They enter the lottery with the third-best odds at the No. 1 overall pick -- a 11.5% chance entering the first lottery draw.

The 2023 NHL Draft Lottery will air on Monday, May 8 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN for the U.S. as well as Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada.
