Tyler Johnson and Henrik Borgstrom notched their first goals as Blackhawks in the loss, while Dominik Kubalik scored his team-leading third of the season. Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves in the defeat.

1st - 5:41 - Lucas Raymond (Tyler Bertuzzi)

The Red Wings opened the scoring in the first off a defensive-zone turnover as Calvin de Haan raced back for a puck in his own end. A clearing attempt was broken up by Tyler Bertuzzi, who quickly found the late-trailing Lucas Raymond in the slot all alone with Marc-Andre Fleury. Raymond tucked a shot five-hole for a 1-0 advantage.

1st - 12:35 - Tyler Jonson (Jonathan Toews, Jake McCabe)

Chicago answered in a transition of their own a short time later as Tyler Johnson notched his first as a Blackhawk. After having a Jonathan Toews breakout pass knocked off his stick in the neutral zone, Johnson regained control and drove the net with a Wings blueliner on his back before tucking a shot five-hole on Alex Nedelijkovic for a 1-1 score.

2nd - 4:22 - Carter Rowney (Michael Rasmussen, Mitchell Stephens)

Detroit regained the lead in the second period as Carter Rowney banked a chance at the side of the net off the pad of Marc-Andre Fleury and in for a 2-1 score. Off a 3-on-1 break, Michael Rasmussen took a shot from the high slot that Fleury got a shoulder on, deflecting the puck wide of goal, but Rowney quickly corralled and pulled a shot off from the goal line before the netminder to get over after the initial stop.

2nd - 7:33 - Vladislav Namestnikov (Mitchell Stephens, Filip Zadina)

The visitors scored again off a backdoor drive three minutes later to make it a 3-1 game. Mitchell Stephens put a shot up high from the bottom of the circle off a rush that Fleury made the initial stop on before Vladislav Namestnikov tucked home the rebound after driving the top of the crease from the weak side.

2nd - 9:19 - Tyler Bertuzzi (Lucas Raymond, Dylan Larkin)

A clashing of skates made it a 4-1 game shortly thereafter. Lucas Raymond circled the Blackhawks net and put a puck out front that ricocheted off the skate of a driving Tyler Bertuzzi, then off the skate of a back-checking Reese Johnson and into the twine. The play underwent a lengthy review, but was determined a legal goal at its conclusion.

2nd - 12:10 - Dominik Kubalik (Seth Jones, Jonathan Toews) -- PP

Dominik Kubalik pulled one back just past the game's midpoint with a one-time blast on the power play to make it 4-2. Jonathan Toews in the far corner worked it to Seth Jones at point, who quickly put a feed into Kubalik's wheelhouse for the slap shot, which tucked just under the bar and in.

2nd - 19:00 - Lucas Raymond (Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi)

The Red Wings answered in the final minute of the period as Raymond notched his second of the night, putting a rebound off a Dylan Larkin shot into the net from the top of the crease for a 5-2 lead heading into the final intermission.

3rd - 1:58 - Henrik Borgstrom (Dylan Strome, Adam Gaudette)

Henrik Borgstrom notched his first goal as a Blackhawk early in the third to pull back within a pair. Dylan Strome fired a shot from the point that deflected off a Red Wing in front and right into the reach of Borgstrom making the screen in front. The forward tapped the loose puck home for make it 5-3 Detroit.

Lucas Raymond completed the hat trick on the power play later in the period, popping home a one-timer from the circle off a cross-ice setup from Dylan Larkin.
