The Blackhawks continued a busy start to Day 2 at the 2022 NHL Draft with a trio of picks in the third round, selecting winger Gavin Hayes at No. 66 overall, winger Samuel Savoie at No. 81 overall and centerman Aidan Thompson at No. 90 overall.
Chicago also held the No. 94 overall pick in the third round, but traded that pick to the Arizona Coyotes for the a third-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft. The third-round pick acquired from Arizona originally belonged to the Dallas Stars.

Hayes, a 6-foot-2, 177-pound native of Westland, Mich., scored 49 points (19G, 30A) in 65 games for the Flint Firebirds in the OHL last season, his first at the major junior level. He competed for the U.S. at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scoring three points (2G, 1A) in four games.
Savoie, a 5-foot-10, 190-point native of Dieppe, New Brunswick, played 64 games for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL last season, scoring 33 points (18G, 15A) in his second season with the team.
Thompson, a 5-foot-11, 181-pound native of Fort Collins, Co., was an alternate captain for the Lincoln Stars in the USHL last season, scoring 82 points (24G, 58A) in 57 games. He is committed to attend the University of Denver to play collegiately.
