With under a week remaining until the start of the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville, the Blackhawks will enter the event with 11 picks total throughout seven rounds.

Out of six of those picks, the team acquired a majority of the selections from trades involving teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers. Here is how they received those picks over the last few seasons.

No. 1 pick

The Blackhawks won the first overall selection at the 2023 NHL Draft Lottery. With a projected 11.5% chance at No. 1 overall heading into the event, Chicago held the third-highest odds at winning the top pick. Chicago passed the lottery favorites in the Anaheim Ducks (No. 2) and Columbus Blue Jackets (No. 3).

No. 19 and 51

With two picks from the Tampa Bay Lightning in this year's draft, Chicago acquired 2023 first-round pick that turned into the No. 19, along with a conditional 2024 first-round pick, Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk in exchange for forward Brandon Hagel during the 2021-22 season. The Lightning were eliminated in the first round against the Maple Leafs, placing their natural first-round selection for the time being at No. 20 overall. However, with the Florida Panthers advancement to the Eastern Conference Final, the Blackhawks added pick improved from 20th overall to 19th overall.

On July 27, 2021, the Blackhawks acquired a 2023 second-round pick (No. 51) along with forward Tyler Johnson from the Lightning in exchange for the rights to defenseman Brent Seabrook.

No. 44

The Blackhawks acquired a 2023 second-round pick, a 2026 fourth-round pick and defenseman Nikita Zaitsev from the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 22, 2023 in exchange for future considerations.

No. 55

After trading Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers, the Blackhawks acquired a 2023 conditional second-round pick, a 2025 fourth-round pick and defenseman Andy Wllinski from the Rangers in a three-team trade on Feb. 28, 2023. Chicago also acquired defenseman Vili Saarijarvi from Arizona in the deal.

No. 93

In the 2022 NHL Draft, Chicago held the No. 94 overall pick in the third round, but traded the pick to the Arizona Coyotes for the a third-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft. The third-round pick acquired from Arizona originally belonged to the Dallas Stars.
