As the Blackhawks gear up for the 2024-25 season, a fresh lineup of veteran newcomers who were signed over the summer will be ready to hit the ice wearing red and black. To help introduce the newest additions, Blackhawks.com sat down with them for a few quick get-to-know-you questions.

First up is a name that Blackhawks fans will recognize—Teuvo Teravainen (TAY-voh tair-uh-VIGH-nehn), a 2012 first-round pick and key player in the Blackhawks' 2015 Stanley Cup-winning team. After an eight-year journey away from Chicago, Teravainen returns with excitement.

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear “Chicago”?

"Blackhawks."

What did you miss the most about Chicago?

"The game feel when the crowd is full out there at the United Center after a big win."

What was your “welcome to the NHL” moment?

"When I stepped onto the ice for the first time. It was home here at the United Center. The crowd just started yelling right away. There was a faceoff coming and I won the faceoff so hard it went all the way to our own zone. It was a pretty cool moment."

What is a piece of advice that you would give to a rookie coming into the team?

"Just be confident and be yourself."

What condiments would you put on a hot dog?

"Ketchup only."

If there is going to be a Teuvo Teravainen giveaway night here in Chicago, what are the fans getting?

"They already have that bobble head from the last time. Maybe just a bobble head with a little older face this time."

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

"I don’t really have any, but I always do things the same way. Just normal stuff. I like to nap for about 1.5-2 hours, then come to the rink and get ready. I always do the same stuff to be mentally prepared too."

Who are you most excited to have as a teammate here this season?

"The obvious answer is probably Bedard, so I have to say Bedard."

If you could play alongside with any NHL player in history, who would you play with?

"I would want to play with Teemu Selänne. He’s fast and scores so that would be good for my game. Me giving him the puck and he would score."

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?

"I was good at floorball when I was younger. We play it in Sweden and Finland."

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would you choose?

"I would probably have it with Tiger Woods."
