CZE 2, SUI 1 OT:This game provided a matchup of two Blackhawks prospects with Philipp Kurashev representing Switzerland and Jakub Galvas skating for the Czech Republic.
Both recorded assists on their team's first goals of the tournament. Kurashev had the secondary helper on Nando Eggenberger's 1-0 goal at 7:45 of the second period, while Galvas had the secondary helper on Martin Kaut's Czech Republic equalizer at 9:02 of the middle frame.
Galvas led all Czech skaters in ice time, playing 24:59. He also had one shot on goal. Kurashev led all Swiss skaters with 24:53 of ice time and finished -1 with three shots on goal. Kurashev was the only skater on either team to play more than 25 minutes.
Switzerland plays Canada on Thursday, while the Czech Republic plays Russia on Friday.
USA 2, SVK 1:Blackhawks prospect Evan Barratt scored the game-winning goal for Team USA at 5:42 of the third period, as the Americans downed Slovakia 2-1.

Barratt, who was named the Player of the Game for the Americans, played 15:43 and registered a game-high seven shots on goal.
USA plays Kazakhstan on Friday.
CAN 14, DEN 0: The Canadians dominated Denmark 14-0 on the opening day of World Juniors.
Blackhawks defensive prospect Ian Mitchell finished the game with two assists, while MacKenzie Entwistle's goal at 16:47 of the third was the one to make it 14-0.
Canada plays Switzerland on Thursday.
SWE 2, FIN 1: Adam Boqvist recorded two assists in a 2-1 win for Sweden over Finland. Boqvist added a team-high six shots on goal in 15:32 TOI.
Henri Jokiharju finished the game with two penalty minutes and three shots on goal in a team-high 25:06.
