The Blackhawks took a 2-1 overtime win over the Nashville Predators on Sunday night in the first game under interim head coach Derek King.
The game's lone regulation goals came 1:50 apart in the second period, with Brandon Hagel finding twine for the third time on the week. Alex DeBrincat found the winner in overtime to take the full two points for the team's second victory of the year.
Kevin Lankinen made 20 saves on the night with some particularly big ones in the third period to keep the game deadlocked for extra time. The netminder even notched an assist on the game-winner.

After a scoreless and defensively sound opening frame allowing just five shots on goal, the Blackhawks got the game's opening break on the other end for a 1-0 lead. Seth Jones put a one-time feed from Jonathan Toews towards goal, missing just wide with a low, hard shot. Brandon Hagel worked his way past his man Mattias Ekholm in the slot and found the rebound off the end boards, tucking a shot short side past Juuse Saros.

The Predators answered a short time later as Alexandre Carrier was given time and space behind the goal line. The defenseman proceeded to walk into the slot and tuck a shot in tight between the legs of Kevin Lankinen for his first goal of the season and a 1-1 score.

OT - 0:37 - Alex DeBrincat (Patrick Kane, Kevin Lankinen)

After a scoreless remainder of regulation, Alex DeBrincat played give-and-go with Patrick Kane on a 2-on-1 break less than a minute into overtime for the game-winner as DeBrincat buried a shot past Juuse Saros.
