WORKING ON PENALTY KILL

The penalty kill unit struggled to keep the puck out of the zone on all three chances as the Blues went 3-for-3 on the man advantage on Tuesday.
"It gives you a reality check with a team that's pretty good on the power play out over the last few years and had some of those guys out there that they strike quick when you're when you're not prepared and you don't execute it there," Richardson said.
Some of the key factors that Richardson wants to focus on with the special teams unit are being more aggressive and the keeping the puck out of the zone. These two components will be a 'good strategy' to help the team prepare for the season opener on Oct. 12.

KORCHINSKI MAKES FIRST IMPRESSON

The No. 7 overall draft pick in the 2022 draft, Kevin Korchinski made his unofficial NHL debut, paired alongside veteran defenseman Connor Murphy, recording two shots on goals and one blocked shot.
Richardson praised his ability to be a two-way defenseman and his style of playing in the neutral zone after turning the puck over and creating an offensive chance in the first few minutes of the first period.
"Great, that is skating ability was great," Richardson said. "[He really had no] trouble in most of the D-zone coverages. [Being] offensive and moving the puck, he really does that well. I think he played with some composure with the puck made some nice passes and that's his game."
