It was a high-scoring midweek affair on Tuesday night at the United Center as the Blackhawks fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning, 7-4, tying the season high for combined goals in a game. It was the fourth time this season Chicago has seen a game hit double digits in combined goals, winning two and losing two.
Brandon Hagel, Wyatt Kalynuk, Duncan Keith and Dominik Kubalik all scored in the loss, while Kevin Lankinen and Malcolm Subban split netminding duties, allowing three goals apiece. Tampa Bay added an empty netter late to seal it.

STAT OF THE NIGHT: Kalynuk scored for the third time in the last five games and pushed his current point streak (2G, 1A) to a career-high three games.

1st - 0:28 - Erik Cernak

The Lightning took the opening lead in the opening minute in transition as Erik Cernak notched his fourth of the year. The defenseman picked off a Blackhawks pass in the offensive zone and skated the length of the ice, firing a wrist shot past Kevin Lankinen for a 1-0 advantage.

1st - 4:15 - Yanni Gourde (Mikhail Sergachev, Blake Coleman)

Tampa doubled the lead a short time later as Yanni Gourde redirected home a Mikhail Sergachev point shot from the side of the cage for his 17th of the season and a 2-0 lead.

1st - 11:59 - Brandon Hagel (Kirby Dach)

Chicago answered back just past the halfway point of the period as a Kirby Dach forecheck resulted in Brandon Hagel getting the puck behind the goal line. Hagel sent a pass into the slot from down low, where it deflected off a pair of Lightning skates in front and past Andrei Vasilevskiy to make it a 2-1 game.

1st - 15:04 - Alex Barre-Boulet (Ondrej Palat, Brayden Point)

The Lightning took the two-goal lead back a few minutes later as Alex Barre-Boulet scored in a second straight game. The rookie took a feed in the slot from Brayden Point, put a backhander on goal and then followed up on his own rebound after an Ondrej Palat shot attempt, finding twine for a 3-1 lead.

1st - 17:59 - Wyatt Kalynuk

Wyatt Kalynuk notched his defensive-leading fourth goal of the season before the period's end, pouncing on a loose puck in the neutral zone, walking in and putting a wrister on goal from the top of the far circle. Andrei Vasilevskiy got a piece of the shot with his blocker, but not enough as the puck trickled over the goal line to make it a 3-2 game.

2nd - 6:40 - Brayden Point (Ondrej Palat)

Tampa Bay doubled the lead once again as Brayden Point completed a wrap around off a broken play at the side of the goal. An Ondrej Palat chance bounced to Point on the far side of the goal before he beat Malcolm Subban to the near post for a 4-2 lead.

2nd - 9:21 - Blake Coleman (Tyler Johnson, Barclay Goodrow)

Blake Coleman made it a 5-2 game off a Tyler Johnson feed at the midpoint of the game. Johnson was tied up at the side of the Blackhawks net, but managed to slip a feed back to the late-trailing Coleman for the one-time finish from the slot.

2nd - 13:39 Alex Killorn (Mikhail Sergachev, Brayden Point) -- PP

Tampa Bay snapped a streak of 18 straight kills for the Blackhawks with a man-advantage strike in the middle frame. Mikhail Sergachev's shot from the point was tipped home by Alex Killorn for a 6-2 Lightning lead.

2nd - 19:28 - Duncan Keith (Patrick Kane, Vinnie Hinostroza)

Duncan Keith pulled one back before the end of the second, taking a feed from Patrick Kane at the point, pulling it wide and then firing a wrister past Andrei Vasilevskiy for a for a 6-3 score.

The Blackhawks made it interesting late as Dominik Kubalik scored on a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage, converting a one-time, cross-ice feed from Patrick Kane to make it 6-4 Tampa Bay with a few ticks over six minutes to play.
