The Blackhawks power play exploded on Tuesday night in the desert, popping home four tallies on the man advantage en route to a 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Tyler Johnson (3A), Seth Jones (2G), Nick Foligno (1G, 1A) and Connor Bedard (2A) led the way with multi-point nights as four different players scored in the game: Jones, Foligno, Jason Dickinson and Philipp Kurashev. Netminder Arvid Soderblom made 37 saves with the scoring support in front of him for his first win since Nov. 24.

"He played so great," Bedard said of Soderblom. "There's been so many games where he's kept us in it and we haven't able to pull it off for him but tonight he was he was our best player and it's always good to see him get a win."

With the win, Chicago snapped a 22-game road winless streak dating back to Nov. 9, 2023.

"The guys really deserved the win," head coach Luke Richardson said. "I thought from the start to the finish, they played really well, all 20 guys. That was a team win and I think they were really focused. We talked a little bit this morning about the direction that we want to go in our last 20 games and it's only going to be us in the room that could change that. And I thought that was a good first step."

QUICK HITS

  • The Blackhawks scored four power-play goals in a game for the first time since Jan. 9, 2018. They previously had scored a pair of power-play goals in a game on two occassions (Dec. 17 vs. VAN, Feb. 19 @ CAR).
  • Tyler Johnson registered three assists on the night, just the third time he's had at least three helpers in a game during his career, with both previous occurances coming in the 2014-15 season. His career mark of four assists in a game also game against Arizona on Oct. 28, 2014.
  • Seth Jones' first-period goal was the first 5-on-3 power-play tally the Blackhawks have scored this season and was the first goal from a Chicago defenseman with the man advantage on the year. Jones added an empty-net goal late in the game, his first multi-goal game of the season and first since April 8, 2023 at SEA.
  • Nick Foligno scored his 15th goal of the season and his team-leading sixth power-play tally of the year. He also added an assist on Philipp Kurashev's goal and now has points in five of his last six games against Arizona (3G, 4A).
  • Jason Dickinson snapped a four-game pointless streak with a power-play goal of his own in the second period, his second PPG and career-best 18th goal overall on the year. He's one point shy of his career-best 30 points set just a year ago.
  • Connor Bedard and T. Johnson registered the primary and seconday assists, respectively, on both opening goals for the visitors.

THEY SAID IT

  • "Oh my God -- that was a long time. Obviously you trying to think about it much but it was pretty crazy stretch there, so it's nice that that's over... I think especially with the streak we’ve been on lately, it’s really nice to get the couple points, obviously add some positivity and the first happy plane ride we’ve had in a little bit, so it’s nice." - Connor Bedard on snapping 22-game road winless streak
  • "We did a much better job of just playing together as a unit of five out there. Our changes were much better tonight. I thought we got pucks in. We didn't turn a lot of pucks over the neutral zone and feed their transition -- they have a lot of skilled players. We just put a north-south game, didn't really mess around with it too much and you saw what happened when we got in the zone. We got some time in there, drew some penalties and did a good job tonight." - Seth Jones on improved play over Monday night's loss in Colorado
  • "It's always fun to both win and play good at the same time. It was a fun game to play too, a lot of shots, a lot of situations for me. A great game overall." - Arvid Soderblom on the win
  • "I think last game, we talked a lot about it -- we had our chances. This morning we talked a lot about it. We knew that we were able to do it, just have to bear down a little bit and thankfully we're able to do that today and able to get four." - Tyler Johnson on the power play's success.
