RAPID REACTION:The Blackhawks came 23 seconds from a road win on Thursday night in St. Paul, before a Ryan Suter goal forced OT and a Jason Zucker OT game-winner gave the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 win. The Blackhawks picked up a point in the standings with the overtime loss.
Chicago struck early and often with first period goals from Alex DeBrincat and Dominik Kahun. DeBrincat's third tally of the season came off an assist from Jonathan Toews, who bulldozed his way past two Wild defenders to set up the opening goal. The Captain also set up Kahun for his first career NHL goal with a no-look feed that Kahun tucked past Devan Dubnyk to make it 2-0.
Cam Ward made 42 saves in the overtime loss, including 16 in a first period that saw the Blackhawks grab a 2-0 lead. DeBrincat's second goal of the game put the Blackhawks ahead in the 3rd period until Suter's late goal forced OT.

NHL FIRSTS:Three players have already made their NHL debut with the Blackhawks this season and the milestones continued to pile up against the Wild. Alexandre Fortin skated in his first career NHL game, logging 8:49 minutes of ice time. Dominik Kahun scored his first career NHL goal, assisted by Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat at 10:07 of the first period.

PLAYER OF THE GAME:Debrincat scored early and scored late to lead the Blackhawks against the Minnesota Wild. His first period marker put the Blackhawks in front, the second time this season the 20-year-old has opened the scoring for Chicago. In the third period, Debrincat took a feed from Patrick Kane off a Jonathan Toews face-off win and blasted home his second goal of the night past Dubnyk. Ward also deserves recognition for his 42 saves.
TALKING POINTS:
"It hurt. That's the word I used after. It was one of those games that you get everything you want, you win the faceoff 5 on 4 and it's in our net. We've been fortunate to score one of those huge goals in the past but we can't let that happen." - Joel Quenneville on Suter's late equalizer
"We were in the zone and I don't know who was shooting it. I think DeBrincat shot it. It came up to Tazer and he made an unreal backhand play to me. I just tried to hit the right corner... All my emotions just went out, I was the happiest guy on the ice." - Dominik Kahun on his first NHL goal
WHAT'S NEXT:The Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues at the United Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on NBCSCH+ or heard on WGN 720.
