The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that they have acquired forward Anders Bjork from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for future considerations.
Bjork, 26, has skated in one NHL game with Buffalo in 2022-23. He has also recorded 25 points (8G, 17A) in 42 American Hockey League games with the Rochester Americans this season. Bjork is tied for seventh on Rochester with 17 assists and ranks eighth on the team with 25 points.
The 6-foot, 196-pound native of Mequon, Wisconsin, has registered 53 points (24G, 29A) in 212 career regular-season NHL games with Boston (2017-21) and Buffalo (2021-23). Bjork also made one trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Boston in 2020, posting one assist in 10 career postseason games. Additionally, the forward has logged 47 points (14G, 33A) in 71 career regular-season AHL games with Providence (2017-20) and Rochester (2022-23).
Originally selected by Boston in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Bjork won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championship and earned bronze at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship. The 2017 Hobey Baker Award Finalist also played three seasons at the University of Notre Dame (H-EAST), earning 109 points (40G, 69A) in 115 career collegiate games.
