The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Andreas Englundfrom the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Jack Johnson.
Englund, 27, has recorded three assists and a team-leading 104 hits in 36 NHL games with the Avalanche this season. The defenseman has also skated in 15 AHL contests with the Colorado Eagles in 2022-23, notching three points (1G, 2A).

The 6-foot-3, 189-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden has registered six assists in 69 career regular-season NHL games with Colorado and Ottawa. Englund has also appeared in 300 career regular-season AHL games with the Eagles and the Belleville/Binghamton Senators, earning 49 points (10G, 39A). The defensemen made one trip to the AHL postseason with Colorado, logging two points (1G, 1A) in eight games during the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Englund was originally selected by Ottawa in the second round (40th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. He also spent two seasons with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League from 2014-16, recording 11 points (4G, 7A) in 95 career games.
Johnson, 36, has earned four assists in 58 games with Chicago this season. He ranks third on the Blackhawks with 96 blocked shots and has posted 75 hits in 2022-23. Johnson also leads the team with 2:09 of shorthanded TOI/G, while he ranks second among team defensemen and third among all club skaters with 19:50 TOI/G, his highest mark since the 2016-17 season with Columbus (21:49).
