The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have acquired forward Brad Morrison from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Olli Maatta. The Blackhawks will retain $750,108 of Maatta's $4,083,333 salary in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Morrison's contract has a salary cap hit of $743,333 and he is signed through the 2020-21 season.

Originally selected in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2015 National Hockey League Draft by the New York Rangers, Morrison skated in 17 games for the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL last season recording 19 points (6G, 13A). The 23-year-old forward played for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League during the 2018-19 season. He notched 20 points (10G, 10A) in 50 games.
Prior to the AHL, Morrison skated in 334 career regular-season games in the Western Hockey League with Lethbridge, Vancouver and Prince George from 2012-2018. The Prince George, British Columbia native tallied 262 points (112G, 150A) in 334 games. He also appeared in 27 playoff contests, recording 48 points (19G, 29A).
Maatta skated in 65 contests with the Blackhawks, recording four goals and 13 assists. He also notched six points (3G, 3A) in nine postseason contests. In 427 career NHL games with Chicago and Pittsburgh, Maatta has tallied 124 points (29G, 95A).
