The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that they have acquired forward Josh Dickinson and the rights to forward Ryder Rolston from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Carl Soderberg. Dickinson has a cap hit of $925,000 and is signed through the 2020-21 season while Rolston is unsigned and currently at the University of Notre Dame.

Rolston, 19, recently completed his freshman season with the University of Notre Dame where he scored one goal and added five assists in 28 games. He was originally selected by Colorado in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-1 forward played the 2019-20 season with Waterloo of the United States Hockey League where he scored 16 goals and added 17 assists. A native of Birmingham, Mich., Rolston also spent two seasons with the United States Development Program from 2017 - 2019. Rolston is the son of former NHLer and Stanley Cup champion Brian Rolston.
Dickinson, 23, has split time the last three seasons with Colorado of the American Hockey League and Utah of the East Coast Hockey League. He has two helpers with the Eagles in the AHL and two helpers with the Grizzlies in the ECHL this year. The Georgetown, Ontario native had ECHL highs in goals (16) and points (30) during the 2019-20 campaign.
Soderberg scored seven goals and added eight assists in 34 games this season with the Blackhawks.
