The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Brandon Hagel (HAY-guhl) on a three-year entry-level contract that runs through the 2020-21 season ($925,000/AAV). He will remain with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League.
This season, Hagel is third in the league with 12 goals, 28 points and shares sixth with 16 assists. He is currently in the midst of a six-game point streak (8G, 5A). Spanning four seasons (2015-18) with the Rebels, the 20-year-old has 205 points (74G, 131A) in 208 regular-season games. He has added 24 points (13G, 11A) in 29 career playoff games. He set WHL career highs with 31 goals and 71 points during the 2016-17 campaign.
The Morinville, Alberta, native was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2016 National Hockey League Draft.
