, a collaborative response with our fans to help in this time of need. All fan donations through the end of March, as well as the Foundation's donation match, will be given directly to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund.
"Just as we had a responsibility to our employees, our Foundation maintains its ongoing commitment to the city of Chicago and surrounding local communities," said Danny Wirtz, Vice Chairman of the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation Board of Directors. "We know many of our fans share in our desire to give back, especially with the uncertainty the current public health situation brings, and we can make a great difference for our neighbors in need by coming together."
As noted in the recent announcement from The Chicago Community Trust and United Way of Metro Chicago, the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund will provide resources to local nonprofit organizations across metropolitan Chicago to supply essential resources to the individuals and households who are most impacted by the epidemic. Those resources currently include access to emergency food and basic supplies, rent and mortgage assistance and utility assistance, though the fund is designed to be flexible so it can deploy resources to address possible additional areas of community need as they develop.
