The Chicago Blackhawks today announced the team has agreed to terms with forward Jalen Luypen (JAY-lehn LIGH-pihn) on a three-year entry-level contract that runs through the 2024-25 season ($859,166.67 salary cap hit).
Luypen set career highs in goals (29), assists (35) and points (64) in 66 contests with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League during the 2021-22 campaign. His 29 tallies ranked third on the club with his 35 assists and 64 points ranking fourth. He made his WHL postseason debut, registering nine points (4G, 5A) in 19 contests to help the Oil Kings win the 2022 WHL Championship. The 20-year-old also skated in the 2022 Memorial Cup last season, posting three points (1G, 2A) in three games.
