Fourth-round pick from 2019 draft agrees to terms on three-year entry-level contract ($825,833 AAV)

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Michal Teply (MIGH-kuhl TEHP-lee) on a three-year contract that runs through the 2022-23 season ($825,833 AAV).
Selected by the Blackhawks in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2019 National Hockey League Draft, Teply spent last season with the Winnipeg Ice of the Western Hockey League, his first in the WHL, recording 63 points (29G, 34A). His 63 points and 34 assists paced all WHL rookies while his 29 goals shared first among first-year skaters. The forward was named the WHL Rookie of the Month for January 2020 after posting 14 points (7G, 7A) over nine games.
Teply, 18, skated for Benatky N.J. of the Czech Republic-2 League and Liberec of the Czech Republic League as well as Liberec Jr. during the 2018-19 season. He notched 10 points (4G, 6A) in 23 contests with Benatky, two assists in 15 games with Liberec and nine points (4G, 5A) in eight appearances with Liberec Jr.
A native of Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic, Teply represented his country at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships, where he tallied five helpers in five contests. He also skated in the 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships, the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and scored the game-winning goal in the 2017 World U-17 Hockey Challenge in the bronze medal game to help the Czech Republic to a medal.
