RELEASE: Blackhawks to Host Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Thursday

In partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation, the Chicago Blackhawks will host "Hockey Fights Cancer" night at the United Center on Thursday, Nov. 3, as the team takes on the Los Angeles Kings. CIBC, a leading North American financial institution, is sponsoring the special evening and has donated $20,000 to the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation to support cancer-related causes.

PREGAME EVENT - PURPLE CARPET

The evening kicks off with the team's annual Purple Carpet event starting at 5:30 p.m. in the United Center Atrium. The Purple Carpet will honor fans who are currently battling cancer, in remission or walking in memory of a loved one who was lost to the disease, and the Blackhawks invite fans attending Thursday's game to come early to cheer on the honorees.
Atrium doors will open at 5 p.m. for the Purple Carpet event, with gates to the United Center to follow at 6 p.m.

IN-GAME ACTIVITIES

There will be several additional opportunities for fans both at the arena and at home to show their support for the movement or contribute funds to the cause, including:
"I Fight For" Signs: "I Fight For" signs will be available inside the Atrium and around the concourse for fans to personalize upon arrival, and fans following along at home can also show their support for the ones they are fighting for by downloading a sign

Warmup Jersey Auction: During warmups, players will wear "Hockey Fights Cancer" jerseys, which will each be autographed and auctioned off online to benefit various local cancer-related organizations through the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation. Ceremonial Puck Drop: The Blackhawks invite fans to cheer on Penelope Gomez, a 6-year-old from Shorewood who has been in remission since July after fighting against Neuroblastoma, as she joins our very own Troy Murray for a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game.
Bell Ringing Celebration: The Blackhawks also invite fans to cheer on Austin Antell, a 9-year-old youth hockey player who recently completed his treatment after fighting against Non-Hodgkin Burkitts B-Cell Lymphoma.
Mystery Pucks, 50/50 & More: Player-autographed Hockey Fights Cancer mystery pucks will be sold in the Atrium and at the community table located outside of section 104/105. A portion of proceeds from the puck sales as well as Split-the-Pot and the Blackhawks silent auction will be donated across cancer-related causes.
