The Blackhawks have
signed free-agent defenseman Madison Bowey
to a two-year contract, a two-way deal in 2020-21 that transitions to a one-way contract in 2021-22. The deal carries a $725,000 salary cap hit overall.
Bowey was selected No. 53 overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals, two selections after the Blackhawks took defenseman Carl Dahlstrom.

NHL EXPERIENCE

The right-shot defenseman set career highs in game played (53), goals (3) and assists (14) last season with the Detroit Red Wings. He's appeared in at least 50 games in each of the last three seasons between Detroit and Washington, totaling 154 NHL appearances and 39 points (5G, 34A).

CLUB AND COUNTRY

Prior to being drafted, Bowey captured tournament titles with Team Canada at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and was an assistant captain for Canada at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship. He also captured gold at the 2015 World Junior Championships with a goal and three assists in seven appearances.
