The Recycle the Game program removes barriers to hockey and provides an affordable cost of equipment regardless of age. Recycle the Game consists of two components - the Equipment Collection and the Equipment Sale.

Equipment Collection

Year-round, individuals can drop off new or gently used equipment at participating OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks. The equipment is sanitized and stored to be sold at the annual Equipment Sale.

From July to September, individuals who make an equipment donation will receive an exclusive ticket offer for a select 2024-25 home game at Nationwide Arena.

Equipment Sale

The Equipment Sale provides fans the opportunity to purchase quality equipment at affordable prices. Held annually, the Sale gears players up for their hockey seasons. Most items are listed at $25 or less, and all proceeds from the Equipment Sale benefit the CBJ Foundation and are donated directly back into the hockey community to help improve programs.

Since 2012, more than $65,500 has been raised.

Leveling The Playing Field

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation and Leveling The Playing Field have announced a new initiative to increase accessibility and remove barriers to sports for central Ohio youth and families. The Foundation, with the support of the team’s Official Sustainability Partner Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS), granted $25,000 to LPF to develop and produce five, co-branded bins to be used as equipment collections at central Ohio sports facilities.

The bins will be located year-round at Liberty Township/Powell YMCA, OhioHealth Chiller Easton, OhioHealth Chiller Dublin, OhioHealth Chiller North and OhioHealth Ice Haus. Hockey items donated through the collection bins will support the team’s annual Equipment Sale, in partnership with ADS. LPF will distribute all non-hockey equipment collected to schools and community organizations.
